Department: Economic Business Research Ctr (3005)Location: Main CampusPosition Summary The Economic and Business Research Center (EBRC) at Eller College of Management is seeking a research economist to join the center. Since 1949 EBRC has been providing Arizona's citizens, business leaders, and decision-makers with awarding-winning economic forecasts, applied research, analysis of business trends, and the latest socio-economic indicator data for Arizona and its communities. The research economist will be responsible for completing research projects under the direction of the EBRC director, using advanced economic theory and research methodologies. Projects will vary, but the successful candidate will work on major community projects that provide analysis and forecasts of trends in state and local public finance, Arizona's role in border trade, and state and local economic development. Duties & Responsibilities Contribute analysis and assist with data and content updates for EBRC websites, including the MAP Dashboard, Arizona-Mexico Economic Indicators, Forecasting Project, and Arizona's Economy online magazine. Contribute to EBRC's work on state and local forecasting and economic impact analysis. as needed. Develop and maintain innovative datasets to be published on EBRC's websites and smartphone app. Identify, analyze, and interpret seminal studies for relevance; Write short analytical articles for a general audience for EBRC websites. Develop and complete extramurally funded research projects using advanced economic theory and research methodologies, on topics including (but not limited to) economic development, forecasting, public finance, and Arizona-Mexico trade. Write reports and present research results to clients and the community at large, including through press contacts. Contribute to EBRC's social media feeds. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Ability to work in a diverse team. Ability to set priorities and to work comfortably in a fast-paced, fluid, deadline-driven environment while providing accurate information. Comfortable with learning new software applications. Excellent organizational skills. Minimum Qualifications Master's degree or higher in economics, public policy, geography, regional development, or a business-related field. Demonstrated excellence in writing and presenting to varied audiences. Successful record in project management. Demonstrated expertise with Microsoft Office products. Preferred Qualifications Ideal candidate will have: three or more years of experience in economic or policy analysis; and extensive knowledge of socio-economic data sources and related studies. Experience with econometric software (Eviews, SAS, STATA), IMPLAN, and GIS software.
