Department: Cancer Center Division (0721)Location: University of Arizona Health SciencesPosition Summary There is an opportunity available to will work in the laboratory for Drs. Steffan Nawrocki and Jennifer Carew which entails managing a cancer research laboratory, performing experimentation and analysis in support of research projects, assisting with training of students, and participation in writing of scientific manuscripts and grant applications. Duties & Responsibilities Manage daily laboratory operations including organizational and logistical features to maximize overall lab productivity. Perform research activities in support of funded projects with the expectation of generating data for publication and presentation. Function as a scientific leader and facilitate the implementation of cutting edge techniques into research design with a particular focus on molecular approaches. Compile and evaluate research data and produce figures/summaries for presentation and publication. Assist principal investigators in preparation of grants and publications. Help to train junior members of the laboratory. Additional duties assigned as it relates to this position. Minimum Qualifications Doctoral Degree (Ph.D.) or M.S. and 10 years of experience in Molecular and Cellular Biology, Pharmacology, and Cancer Biology. Experience working with mouse models of cancer. Preferred Qualifications Research expertise in molecular and cell biology techniques. Experience working with oncolytic viruses, small molecule anti-cancer therapeutics, antibodies, and other experimental cancer therapeutics. Expertise in protein analysis such as immunoblotting, microscopy techniques, and flow cytometry. Experience with various cell death and cell viability assays. Research experience with mouse models of cancer, including xenograft, syngeneic, and patient-derived xenograft models of both hematologic and solid tumors. Experience with isolation and working with cancer cells obtained from primary patient specimens. Experience with analysis of large data sets obtained from microarray and RNA sequencing experiments using Partek or similar and gene ontology software. Previous experience training student lab workers.
