POSITION SUMMARY: Perform a variety of tasks related to the general business operations of the association. Act as manager of human resources/ labor management, job training, business planning/financial analysis, website and various other operations related areas. Create, update, and enforce association policies. Continually develop new and better polices that will improve the morale, reputation and financial wellbeing of the association. Work closely with the board to further improve the financial status and reputation of association. Perform all duties assigned by board in a satisfactory and timely manner. ATB OVERVIEW: ATBs purpose of the Association is to educate its members and to preserve and promote the common interests of those in the construction industry who are engaged in the business of infrastructure (Infrastructure) construction, which includes, without limitation, the construction of such work as: utility lines; storm and sanitary sewers and drainage; water lines; irrigation and flood control projects; roads and streets; dams; airports and railways; and highways and bridges, whether any such work is a part of public or private projects LOCATION: The Executive Director position is in the ATB offices at 1842 West Grant Road, Tucson, Arizona, 85745, Suite 103. Telephone 520.###.####. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: The Executive Director reports to the Chairman of the Board or President and the other Board members. The Executive Committee includes the President, First Vice President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer and Immediate Past President. The Executive Director will supervise the ATB staff: Executive Assistant. Other important interactions include: Local, County, State and Federal elected and appointed officials and their staffs; members of the media; representatives of other public & private sector organizations; American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA), Arizona Builders Alliance (ABA), Arizona Construction Trades (ACT), Arizona Rock Products Association (ARPA), Associated General Contractors of Arizona (AGC), Metropolitan Pima Alliance (MPA), Pima Association of Government (PAG), Regional Transportation Authority (RTA-Pima & Pinal), Southern Arizona Home Builders Association (SAHBA), Southern Arizona Leadership Council (SALC), education officials; Pima Community College, Pima Joint Technological Education District (JTED), Pima County One Stop, Registrar of Contractors, Southern Arizona Construction Career Days (SACCD), and University of Arizona. POSITION CHARTER: The Executive Director is the chief paid executive and administrative officer of the Arizona Transportation Builders Association. This executive is responsible for all administrative and management functions as well as executing the mission or the organization by planning, directing, and controlling all activities of the Association to achieve the stated goals and objectives of all strategic and operating plans. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: BUSINESS PLANNING/FINANCIAL ANALYSIS: Create and continually update association business plans to the satisfaction of the Board of Directors Monitor the financial standing of the association always and report to the Board of Directors concerns and ideas for improvement Work with Treasurer & Executive Committee to continually improve and modernize associations accounting practices Analyze financial statements monthly and report to the Board of Directors any problems or concerns. Present solutions and ideas to correct problems Monitor accounts receivable and report problems regularly Devise plans to improve cash flow and decrease past due accounts, implement these plans and monitor their success HUMAN RESOURCES/LABOR MANAGEMENT/LABOR MANAGEMENT: Perform all necessary recruitment tasks to ensure that work force adequately meets the demand of the association's current workload Perform all hiring tasks including screening, interviewing, background checks, drug testing, and hire/no hire decisions Create and administer a new-hire orientation program that will adequately prepare new hires to work at ATB Regularly review and update employee handbook and new hire forms Create new sections and additions to handbook as necessary as well as new forms for new-hire packet Create predominance incentive programs Administer all incentive programs and report results the Board of Directors regularly Conduct research on national/local salary/wage trends for all positions with ATB, use information to assist in making salary/wage changes. Also provide the board with the performance information necessary to make such decisions. WEBSITE MANAGEMENT: Create and manage association website Update site and improve regularly Monitor success of website and market the site as necessary GENERAL AND MISCELLANEOUS MANAGEMENT: Design and order all company marketing materials Purchase office supplies as needed Pick-up checks as necessary Manage, oversee ATBs events such as: golf tournament, dinner meeting, board meeting, and all promotional events & coordinate regular with Executive Assistant Do internet research for the Board of Directors as necessary Create all necessary company forms and spreadsheets using a computer Create job descriptions for all ATB positions and update as necessary Compose business letters and memos for the Board of Directors as required with the highest level of professionalism possible KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES: Communication: excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong communicator with internal and external audiences including ATB business members and prospects, Board of Directors, government representative, staff, members of the media and the public. Demonstrates the ability to develop and make presentations; excellent listening skills Executive Management: strong staff leadership and human resource development; has effectively led a complex organization. Fiscal/ Nonprofit Management: demonstrated ability to manage financial affairs of an organization; i.e., develop revenue sources and control expenditures to preserve financial stability. Understands finical, legal and compliance basics of 501 C6 organizations. Membership Development: has actively promoted an organization; track record of membership development, retention, increased value and appropriate expansion. Media/Public Relations: ability to effectively articulate goals, objectives and policy positions of ATB to the media and the community at large. Sale Orientation: ability to market ATB in the Southern Arizona region. Strategic Thinker: can plan for future also brings \"outside the box\" ideas Sense of Humor: genuinely light-hearted; able to enjoy life and see humor in sometimes difficult situations. Resource Development: experience with varied successful fund-raising activities including total resource campaigns, development programs, capital campaigns, publications and advertising, special events, dues and non-revenue campaigns. Business/Economic/Development: has worked collaboratively with established public sector delivery systems and private sector resources to effectively promote the business growth of a community, country or region. Government Advocacy: experience in the process of local, state, federal and regional government organizations; strong advocacy experience on behalf of business related to specialty contractors and material suppliers; has the developed effective working relationships with elected/appointed officials and their staffs. Volunteer Organization Experience: appreciate the value of voluntary organization structure and operating techniques; proven ability to motivate and utilize volunteers. Education Institutions: demonstrated collaboration with leaders of public school systems and private institutions along with community colleges and universities. QUALIFICATIONS: Preferred Experience: Bachelor's Degree in a related field 5+ years in association management experience OR 5+ years experience in the construction related field Has experience or relationship building with elected officials and government agencies Experience working with executive and board of directors structure Experience with membership recruitment Experience with a charitable organization Experience fund raising & event planning Experience with marketing Experience with financial planning COMPENSATION: $55-65,000.00 or based on relative experience INTEREST: Interested candidates should send cover letter, resume and references to .
