Department: Office of the Registrar (8101)Location: Main CampusPosition Summary The database specialist will work under the supervision of the Assistant Registrar in Room and Course Scheduling. This position is responsible for UAccess and Ad Astra support for the Office of the Registrar. Strong communication skills are vital. Duties & Responsibilities Runs reports to ensure integrity of data between information academic departments are entering in relation to the Course Catalog. Creates future semesters and roll course section information from one semester to the next. Runs reports in Ad Astra to ensure data integrity between UAccess and Ad Astra. Monitors database systems availability and overall functionality. Creates and implements programming scripts, procedures to maintain consistent and accurate data, Communicates with users to troubleshoot problems and identify databases needs. Analyzes requested databases changes for impact on existing computer systems. Trains and informs users directly or through user interfaces. Instructs users on data extraction techniques. Imports, exports and retrieves data for users. Creates technical and nontechnical database documentation. Participates in the analysis, design and development of automated databases. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Knowledge of working with data to create efficient processes Knowledgeable about computer security and the safe practices regarding sensitive data. Skill in analytical and creative problem solving. Skill in communicating technical information to technical and nontechnical users. Skill in working independently and as part of a team. Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. Minimum Qualifications Please see 'Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications' below. Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications Three years of experience installing, monitoring and maintaining relational database software and related hardware; OR, an Associate's degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Information Technology or related field AND two years of experience installing, monitoring and maintaining relational database software and related hardware; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Statistics/Data Analytics/Computer Science/Math/Economics/MIS or a related field and two years of administrative experience Experienced in Ad Astra. Experienced in PeopleSoft Records. Ability to build queries in PeopleSoft Query Manager using SQL. Knowledge of building Analysis and Dashboards in Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (UAccess Analytics).
