Learning A-Z is looking for a Research Associate for our efficacy program. This position is responsible for providing leadership and guidance on product evaluation (formative and summative), assessment initiatives, and initiatives related to data-based instructional decisions. Schedule includes regular business hours and may require occasional work on evenings and/or weekends. This position requires ability to travel up to 20%.
### Essential Job Functions:
* Designs and executes program efficacy studies documenting changes in student performance, skills, and/or attitudes as well as implementation metrics.
* Coordinates and oversees program efficacy studies implemented by third parties, including vendors and universities.
* Writes or edits evaluation and study reports for internal and external use, and coordinates with Marketing to seek avenues for publication of those reports.
* Develops user validation protocols and procedures according to best practices and company needs; oversees or executes those user validation protocols with users.
* Recommends additional data to be collected regarding student performance, implementation fidelity, and other metrics important to the business; analyzes those data and makes recommendations based on them.
* Develops custom assessments or recommends existing standardized or criterion-referenced assessments to supplement data collected by resources, to place students in resources, or to personalize resources.
### Additional Skills:
* Excellent oral and written communication skills, particularly in technical writing and its translation into practical applications.
* Appreciation for quantitative and objective measures.
* Excellent critical thinking skills, including identifying implicit assumptions, evaluating arguments, and drawing sound conclusions.
* A flexible, positive attitude is critical, as is a problem-solving approach that sees challenges as obstacles to be conquered through creative solutions and perseverance.
* Collaborative and cooperative attitude toward coworkers, teachers, and school administrators.
* Strong attention to detail.
* Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a fast-paced environment and to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
* Knowledge or experience with diagnostic or achievement tests used in education is highly desirable.
* Authorship or co-authorship of peer-reviewed papers is highly desirable.****
### Required Qualifications:
* MA or MS required; with research requirements in education, psychology, learning sciences or related field from a four-year college of university.
* 2-3 years experience in research projects.
* Exceptional skills with databases, spreadsheets, statistical programs, and written reports.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint.
* Research experience working with relational databases, statistical programs, compiling and interpreting quantitative data.
### Preferred Skills and Abilities:
* Experience conducting research or program evaluation for education is highly desirable.
* Applicants with a doctoral degree and prior publications are preferred.
* Strong organizational skills- detail oriented.
* 3 - 5 years of relevant analytical experience.
* Commitment to accuracy, quality, and high productivity with minimal guidance.
* Knowledge of Education (assessment, intervention, reading, math).
