Kforce has a client seeking a Sustaining Product Development Engineer - analog in Tucson, Arizona (AZ).Overview:The successful Sustaining Engineer will have responsibility for providing high quality technical support by leveraging strong experience in diagnostics, troubleshooting, and product /manufacturing development. This individual will team with a talented group of Development Engineers delivering high quality, analog and digital based products in a fast-paced dynamic business environment. The primary focus for this position is providing Customer / Field, Manufacturing, and Material Procurement support. Secondary support rolls include product cost reductions, custom product derivatives, and collaboration with Design and Test teams in support of new product development. This position requires a self-starting, high energy individual capable of multi-tasking, working with customers. Essential Duties:
* Participate in product development
* Provide feedback on design features
* Design features for product supportability
* Review technical documentation and procedures
* Fix or advocate for product fixes and features
* Support compliance requirements (EMI, safety, Thermal, etc.) and identify impacts to design
* Partner with factory and material procurement
* Coordinate purchase of components and create AVLs for new parts
* Direct the assembly and test of prototype and integrate into physical design
* BSEE degree (EE Master's degree preferred)
* At least 5 years' experience in the engineering field of SMPS (with mode power supply) electronics
* Experience with regulatory agencies (i.e. UL, CSA, IEC, VDE, FCC, etc.)
* A thorough understanding SMPS (switch mode power supply) topologies, Inverters, and Emergency Lighting / LED driver applications
* Adept at high frequency magnetic design; transformers, inductors, and EMI filter components
* Proficient with the use of standard lab equipment; scopes, meters, spectrum analyzers, etc.
* Proficient in test and measurement techniques for switch mode power supplies
* Troubleshooting abilities to locate problems and identify solutions of new designs and in production product
* Functional understanding of heat flow and thermal design
* Communication abilities to understand and explain problems, findings, and resolutions
* Proficient in PC applications; Excel, Word, Outlook, AutoCAD, and Altium Designer (PCBs)
