Manufacturing Mechanical Design & Support 2018 Summer Internship The Manufacturing Mechanical Design & Support Department consists of three engineering sections: Tool Engineering, Packaging Engineering and Digital Manufacturing. The successful candidate(s) will have opportunities to work within or across all of these sections. U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date. Specific takeaways and skills gained from our summer internship include: Gaining valuable hands on experience, learning from our resident experts, and developing a professional network of contacts Designing & developing mechanical solutions to help resolve challenging production issues CREO: 3D modeling, working with complex assemblies, & 2D drawings Opportunities to Improve & develop Project Management Skills Additive Manufacturing Learning the full design cycle from requirements development to integration into production Interfacing with customers & suppliers Learning how to conduct constructive design reviews Required Qualifications: Currently enrolled college student and actively pursuing a Bachelor or Master degree within Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Technology, Product Design, Aerospace, Material Science, Systems Engineering, and etc. Ability to work full-time for approx. 10-12 weeks Must be Export & Import Control Compliance, must be a U.S. Person as prescribed by 22 C.F.R 120.15 Ability to obtain U.S. Security Clearance (Must have U.S. Citizenship) Minimum GPA for consideration is 2.90 on a 4.00 scale Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite Excellent written and Verbal Communication skills Desired Qualifications: Product Design Experience Computer Aided Design skills (Creo Preferred) Machine Shop knowledge or experience Additive Manufacturing & 3D printing Proven & Demonstrated academic track record leading and drive projects to completion Enjoy working in a group environment where emphasize is more on team achievement Continuous Process Improvement skills & training (6-Sigma) Education: This position requires a progression towards a Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree from an ABET accredited engineering curriculum in a field such as Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, or related field from an ABET accredited curriculum with a minimum cumulative/overall GPA of 3.0. This position can be a Salary Grade ST02, Salary Grade ST03, Salary Grade ST04 or Salary Grade ST05 based on the candidate's qualifications and standing as outlined below: ST02 (Sophomore Technical Intern) - Must have completed 30 hours of college ST03 (Junior Technical Intern) - Must have completed 60 hours of college ST04 (Senior Technical Intern) - Must have completed 90 hours of college ST05- (Post-Graduate Technical Intern) - Must have an undergraduate degree, and currently seeking a graduate degree This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Non-US citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Defense Industrial Security Clearance Office (DISCO), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. Security clearance factors include, but are not limited to, allegiance to the US, foreign influence, foreign preference, criminal conduct, security violations and drug involvement.
